The Door to Hell is one of those industrial accidents that just makes you shake your head and wonder what they were thinking.  A hole opens up and swallows your gas rig so you get even by lighting the pocket of gas under it on fire.  It’s almost like the climax to a horror movie but this one is still going.

Another longest burning fire of the world is Devil’s Oven. This is a still-burning century-old mine fire, set during a manual labor dispute in 1884. A huge effort by the Federal government to extinguish the fire in the 1930s proved useless. The fire has moved away from New Straits Ville and is now increasing under Ohio’s 233,000 acre Wayne National Forest.
