The apprenticeship assessment plan for fire, emergency and security systems has gained government approval.
The apprenticeship standard sets out how apprentices will be assessed and details the synoptic endpoint assessment undertaken in the final three months of the apprenticeship.
“I’m delighted that the government has approved the assessment plan, and in doing so have enabled our industry to complete the final step towards having a structured apprenticeship – something we have needed for many years – that fits the needs of employers and their businesses,” said Pat Allen, director of Abel Alarm and lead employer on the fire, emergency and security systems Trailblazer group.
Trailblazers are groups of employers that band together to design apprenticeship standards and assessment approaches to boost the numbers of apprentices and the quality of apprenticeships in the UK, which is suffering a skills gap in engineering, according to many experts.
