OPTEX to Showcase New Indoor Laser Scanner – the RLS-2020I – at IFSEC

You could be one of the first to see the latest sensor in Optex’s award-winning REDSCAN range. Only just launched the RLS-2020I will be showcased at IFSEC International 2016 in June.

OPTEX RLS2020

The product: The RLS-2020I is part of OPTEX’s REDSCAN range of laser sensors. A short range, indoor model the new sensor is equipped with the same functionality as its predecessors but is lighter, more compact and boasts a range of additional control and power features usually associated with IP Dome cameras.

The RLS-2020I protects areas from security breaches such as intrusion, theft or unauthorised access and boosts the reliability of video-based motion detection and surveillance.

Technical features:

  • Harnesses new generation of laser with a customisable ‘virtual’ wall or pane with detection area up to 20m (65ft) x 20m (65ft) to identify presence of people or objects
  • Measuring time it takes for emitted laser beam to hit an object and reflect signal back to the sensor, the RLS-2020I can quickly analyse size, location and speed of the object
  • Operators can set a minimum object size or distance threshold for triggering an alert
  • Scanned technology based on Class 1 laser technology used for industrial, safety and security applications and presents no hazard to health
  • Performance is not compromised by challenging lighting conditions – even complete darkness
  • Can serve as trigger for event-driven video surveillance systems, by driving cameras to pre-determined positions and ‘pointing’ to where the intrusion or presence occurs
  • Power over Ethernet (PoE)-enabled, consuming only six watts of power.
  • Web browser feature for fast set-up or REDSCAN Manager software for in-depth configuration
  • Three programmable series analogue dry contact outputs, giving flexibility in programming specific commands including tamper, environment or alarm.
  • Can be integrated with Video Management Software (VMS), Network Video Recorder and Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) platforms.
  • Compact and discreet design with wall and ceiling mounting options. Can be custom-painted to become even less obtrusive, so OPTEX expects sales to a wide range of sectors, including any “private house, hotel, retail store, art gallery or modern office building”
  • Splash-proof housing makes it suitable for more humid environments such as glasshouses or indoor swimming pools
