State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

We are delighted to announce the judging panel for the 2020 edition of the IFSEC Global Influencers in Security and Fire 2020.

The awards are highly respected within the industry, and play a key part in recognising the talent and efforts of some of the leading individuals tirelessly developing the sector. You can find out the winners of the 2019 awards, here. Nominations for 2020 are also now LIVE for entries!

The judges, many of whom have been named as previous top influencers in the awards, all play prominent roles in the security and fire sectors across the globe. The panel consists of individuals from 11 different countries – many have additional years of overseas experience – with more details about the individuals selected below.

Lead Judge and co-founder of the prestigious awards, Grant Lecky, returns for 2020, commenting: “Last year we were pleased to see winners from countries that had not previously been featured on the IFSEC Top Influencers list and I expect that trend will continue for this year as well, so of course I am very excited to see who will be named to the 2020 list. As in previous years, our Judges are world-class professionals who are in an ideal position to judge those nominated to be the current influencers of today, as well as up-and-coming influencers within the security & fire disciplines.”

Grant himself featured among the IFSEC Global Influencers in Security and Fire in both 2014 and 2017, has featured on the Canadian Who’s Who, and is a recipient of the Bill Zalud Memorial Award for professional excellent/outstanding service in the security profession.

The 2020 influencers will be announced in the IFSEC Security Briefing (which you can register for here) in the summer of 2020.

Categories for 2020 IFSEC Global Influencers

  • Security executives (the senior most official in an enterprise, whose primary duties encompass leading and managing security for the enterprise)
  • Security – end users (e.g. heads of security, directors of security)
  • Security – manufacturers/vendors/installers/integrators (those displaying exemplary work in the field of installation or specific projects, as well as technological innovation)
  • Security – thought leadership (e.g. thought leaders, association figures, academics)
  • Security – One to watch (Specifically for championing the sector’s rising stars, nominees should have worked in the industry for no longer than five years)
  • Cyber security professionals and thought leaders
  • Fire – all disciplines (UK only)

How do we define influential?

This could be anyone:

  • Who has played a key role in driving technological innovation

  • Someone who has been instrumental in the success of the organisation or business they lead or are employed by
  • Someone who has helped to raise the industry’s profile or been an influential voice in the national media

The criteria for installers is slightly different, being an individual – not a company – who has done some or all of the following:

  • Consistently provided exceptional customer service
  • Delivered a particular project, or many projects, to exceptionally high standards
  • Been an innovator (e.g. cutting average installation times/costs through adoption of new tech or change of process)
