CURTAIN MOTION SENSORS

OPTEX launches BX shield outdoor PIR series

Sensor manufacturer OPTEX has launched the BX Shield (BXS) series of sensors, curtain motion sensors that protect windows, in the EMEA (Europe Middle East and Africa) region.

Complementing the VX Shield series launched in the autumn, the new BX Shield is available in four models.

BX Shield Models

  • Standard hardwired PIRs (BXS-ST)
  • Hardwired with anti-masking (BXS-AM)
  • Battery-powered standard (BXS-R)
  • Battery-powered with anti-masking (BXS-RAM)

Sectors/verticals

OPTEX MD Jacques Vaarre says the BX Shield suits a wide range of residential and light commercial sites.

Features

  • Four PIRs, two on each side
  • Detection range and sensitivity can be adjusted independently for each side of the sensor
  • Scope of detection area up to 12m/40ft (24m/80ft).
  • Colour choice: Available with a black body and white front face plate or white body and white face plate. Black and silver plates also available.
  • Analysing detection patterns and environmental information, Super Multidimensional Analysis (Digitally-enhanced signal recognition logic) boosts immunity against temperature changes or moving trees and vegetation. Can distinguish between the cause of nuisance false alarms and genuine intrusions.
  • For environments where the temperature difference between the human body and the background is very small, the extreme high detection mode increases the PIR sensitivity to prevent any missed alarms.
  • Tamper output is activated when the face cover or back box is removed.
  • Installers can test if beam is set up correctly with walk-test mode, which indicated when someone walks through the beam and an alarm is activated. Returns to normal operation after three minutes.

OPTEX says

“The new BX Shield detectors are excellent multi-purpose sensors for an array of scenarios,” said Jacques Vaarre, OPTEX managing director EMEA. “We have designed the entire range to be easy to install with features such as a level indicator and colour-coded components.

“The BX Shield combines modern design with superior performance. It can be connected to an alarm panel or to a CCTV system, triggering the camera to provide visual verification when an intruder is detected.”
