The fourth annual edition of The Video Surveillance Report sets out, like previous editions, to gauge industry perceptions and experiences of the latest innovations in network cameras and video surveillance systems. Once again sponsored by IDIS, the report shares findings based on a survey of hundreds of professionals working in the field – from installers and integrators to consultants and heads of security.
We asked end users about their existing systems – when they were last upgraded, whether they sourced from a single manufacturer and whether they’d yet migrated to IP. We assessed which hardware end users were most likely to upgrade next as well as the comparative importance of image resolution, video analytics, data compression technologies and more.
This report also picks up on two side-effects of the growing power, effectiveness and breadth of applications – now beyond just security-related ones – of video surveillance: growing storage needs, driven by higher resolutions and video analytics, and the growing importance of high availability – ie, avoiding system faults.
Cybersecurity, naturally, warranted its own chapter and we also explored the use of deep learning analytics and VGA/HDMI video encoders and how highly end users rated technical support from manufacturers.
Topics include:
Installed base
Upgrading & innovation
VGA/HDMI video encoders
Deep learning powered video analytics
Systems faults & critical failover
Cybersecurity
