CT Sentry Block from Townscape Products wins innovation accolade at outdoor events awards

A security product designed to protect temporary events and public areas from the threat of vehicle-based attacks has been recognised as ‘Innovation of the Year’ at the UK National Outdoor Events Association (NOEA) Awards.

Townscape Products, a provider of vehicle defence security, developed the product, which is installed by the company’s partner, Eventmen.

The innovation, called CT Sentry Block, comprises robust concrete blocks to be installed on a temporary basis to protect Christmas markets, festivals and other outdoor events.

Each unit weighs 2.2 tonnes and when placed 1200mm apart allows pedestrians to pass through. The blocks are connected together with steel linkages.

CT Sentry Block can be installed quickly. It takes roughly one hour to install every 25 metres that the perimeter security system covers.

The technology has been used to protect festivals across the UK including Jalsa Salana, a Muslim festival.

Jonathan Goss, managing director at Townscape Products, said: “In the current climate, perimeter security is a vital consideration for event organisers. Previously, there was nothing available on the market that was specifically designed to protect temporary events – so it was important that we innovated quickly to tackle the increased threat vehicle attacks pose.”

The security system is the first of its kind to be made available in the UK.

The NOEA Awards, which this year took place in Bath, recognises the very best in the UK outdoor events sector.
