Growth of airport detection equipment required, highlights Todd Research

ToddResearch-Aviation-20As lockdown measures are eased in some areas, people are beginning to look at travel plans and take to the skies once more. As a result, Todd Research has noticed an increase in enquiries for airport detection equipment to keep customers and staff safe.

With COVID-19 being the main focus of news these last few months, it is vital to remember that terrorist threats are still very real.

When you think about the security equipment and procedures used at airports, it’s likely the first to come to mind would be walkthrough metal detectors, baggage scanners, and perhaps now temperature monitors. But what about goods that are supplied on the aeroplane? Such as duty-free items, and even food & drinks?

Based on EU / UK regulations, all inbound goods must be screened or purchased from an approved supplier. Inbound screening is currently a manual, labour intensive process, where 100% of all items must be handled as part of the screening process. Meanwhile, 50% of all outbound goods within the trolleys or containers must be searched to ensure the trolleys do not contain any prohibited items. Again, this is a manual process and can take up to 45 minutes to complete the final search of an individual flight.

Todd Research has an ideal solution, the TR-STS Trolley Scanner. The TR-STS is an x-ray inspection conveyor scanner for airline service trolleys.

By using X-ray screening for trolleys, the inbound screening and final search can be completed in a single operation, meaning 100% of all items are screened and searched. The total process including the final search takes a fraction of time – 20 seconds per trolley or three minutes per flight.

Following the recent lockdown period, many companies have found themselves having to adjust their budgets and expenditure throughout the coming months. At Todd Research Ltd we understand how important it is to keep your employees and customers safe, and the technology to enable this often comes at a high cost.

Working in partnership with CF Capital, we are delighted to introduce to you the CF Shield leasing package.

So, how does it work?

Using the CF Shield leasing option, Todd Research is able to offer you the first three or six months of your leasing plan at a reduced cost of 50%. This is designed to provide a more affordable solution for postal screening, baggage scanning and metal detection equipment in a variety of sectors, with options available to lease the products from three to seven years.
