Pilgrims Group eGuarding Scheme Wins Security Excellence Award for Training

The eGuarding training programme has scooped the Security Excellence Award for Training.

This is the second triumph in three years for the programme’s developer, international security specialist Pilgrims Group, which has reached the finals in the training category on all three occasions.

Presented by comedian Alistair McGowan at the Hilton Hotel, London, the award celebrates innovation and achievement in all sectors of the discipline.

Pilgrims eGuarding, which launched in 2013, has boosted the efficiency and service standards of manned guarding personnel by 40%.

“We developed eGuarding in response to a number of challenges within the manned guarding industry,” says Pilgrims Group COO David Freear. “These include the lack of continuous training available to guards, who may not be up to speed with standard operating procedures, together with the routine and monotony of the role.

“All these factors can ultimately mean guards may not be as alert and ready to deal with emergencies as they could be.

Guards can complete eGuarding training around their jobs, according to the Pilgrim’s Group.

“We sought to create something which challenges guards to think, to understand how their roles fit into the wider picture and provide regular assessments and practice,” says Freear. “We wanted our guards to feel more motivated and further engaged with our clients’ businesses and therefore not just happier at work but, crucially, more responsive.”

Pilgrims was also a finalist in the awards’ Customer Care Initiative of the Year category for its 360 Customer Care scheme.

The company previously won the Training Initiative of the Year Award following success in 2012 for a training scheme the company developed for the British Government’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
