Crimestoppers Recognised for Outstanding Contribution to Policing

crimestoppers award

Crimestoppers CEO Mark Hallas accepts the award from the PFNDF’s Martin Plummer

Crimestoppers has won an award for its outstanding contribution to policing at the Police Federation National Detectives’ Forum (PFNDF).

The independent crime-fighting charity was recognised for its anonymous reporting service and the numerous successful crime awareness campaigns it has led down the years.

Anonymous tip-offs from the public – delivered online or via phone calls – have led to more than 134,000 arrests, the seizure of £326m of drugs and the recovery of £132m of goods since the organisation’s launch in 1988.

The PFNDF, which this year took place at Hensol Castle in Glamorgan, is attended by influential figures in law enforcement and hands out awards for notable contributions to policing.

Crimestoppers Chief Executive Mark Hallas said: “It’s a real honour to be recognised by an organisation like the Police Federation National Detectives’ Forum and the award is an acknowledgement of the great work Crimestoppers carries out day in and day out in support of policing in general and detectives in particular.

“While it’s paramount the public are aware of our independence from the police, (to ensure we continue to receive vital information), our relationship with law enforcement is also absolutely critical.

“It is my hope that we can continue to bring down crime levels across the country, and this award highlights that we are certainly working well together to do just that.”

Said Martin Plummer, Chair of the PFNDF: “We are honoured to present this award to Crimestoppers in recognition of the service they provide the public, who we serve together.

“Their contribution to the criminal justice system over the last 27 years cannot be underestimated and their dedication continues to make a real credible difference to people’s lives in the fight against crime.”
