New range of megapixel cameras from Bosch

The new Bosch Megapixel products aim to offer ultra high-resolution digital imaging and more system flexibility. Delivering up to 3.1 million pixels in each image, the cameras are said to provide sharp video that captures details that some cameras miss.

There are three models within the new range, including the entry-level NWC-0700 model that uses a two-megapixel sensor to deliver colour images. At the higher end, the 3.1 megapixel NWC-0800 is said to give extra-fine definition, allowing small details to be observed from further away. Both models offer almost seven times the number of pixels found in conventional high-resolution CCTV systems.

For 24-hour coverage, the NWC-0900 day/night dual sensor camera system provides both a 3.1 megapixel colour camera for daytime use and a 1.3 megapixel high-sensitivity monochrome camera for low light situations. Switching between the two cameras is automatic and determined by the ambient light levels.

All cameras in the new range feature digital pan, tilt and zoom and can be used in both digital and hybrid installations when combined with Bosch’s DiBos digital recorders.

Bandwidth and storage capacity can be optimised using the cameras’ adjustable resolution and frame rate and the entire range has been designed with Power over Ethernet, eliminating the need for a local power supply.

Bosch claim that a single Megapixel camera can cover the same area as six analogue cameras, resulting in lower installation and maintenance costs and the cameras are said to be particularly suited to surveillance of wide-area sites like stadiums, public buildings, city centres and parklands.
