Bedford door staff inspection success
The investigators from the Security Industry Authority worked with officers from Bedfordshire Police and Bedford Borough Council to inspect 71 door staff across 20 pubs and clubs in Bedford.
Jenny Pattinson, an SIA head of investigation, said: “Having compliant door staff means the public can enjoy a safer night out, so the results of these recent checks are very encouraging.
“More operations with our enforcement partners will be occurring, so we advise door staff and licensees across the county to ensure that they too are compliant with the law.”
Bedford Licensing Officer, Sergeant Lornette Stokes, said: “These checks have been carried out in the past where we have found unlicensed door supervisors working so we are extremely pleased with the result.”
Gill Anderson, Bed:Safe project manager, said:”Licensees and door staff have a key role to play in providing a safe and respectful night out in Bedford. These results, which are well above the national average, recognise how hard they are working to achieve this.
“On behalf of everyone involved in Bed:Safe I would like to thank them for their commitment.”
