State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

High security lock goes in at critical sites

The high security slide-bar gate lock includes an optional electronic activation which can be “easily interfaced” with existing access control systems for remote operation.

It is designed to secure perimeter fencing at chemical installations, power plants, gas terminals, oil refineries, utility companies, military bases and other large areas.

Fitted in a solid steel casing, it is suitable for a variety of gate standards and its high ingress protection against dust and moisture provides increased defence against corrosion and a life-long reliability, says the company.

This latest addition, “already being installed at key utilities sites in the UK”, follows the launch last year of the company’s claw gate lock which has been specified for high security applications.

It is said to have a “significantly extended life span” in comparison with anything currently available.

On the recommendation of the Home Office, Crime and Fire Defence Systems Ltd approached Pickersgill-Kaye to design and build a lock suitable for critical national infrastructure sites.

Crime and Fire were having difficulty locating locks to match the BS1722 security standard of its fencing.
