Burg-Wachter enters India with 5 million euro investment

Burg-Wachter, a well-known German home security solutions provider, has entered India with an investment of 5 million euro (over Rs.32 crore) for setting up distribution network by 2010.

According to media reports, the company is targeting a sales of 20 million euro (over Rs 130 crore) by 2011 with the launch of its keyless doorlocks and safes priced in the range of USD 1,000-3,500.

Burg-Wacher is synonymous with private and commercial security since 1920. The company has a long tradition and develops, produces high-quality and user-friendly security products. With nearly 3,000 products, Burg-Wachter offers an extensive security program for accommodation, house and values.

News agency PTI quoted Burg-Wachter managing director Harald Luling saying, “Security is a big concern in India now-a-days, especially after Mumbai terror attack last year. Our products will provide a full-proof security to individual Indian household.”

Spreading the network

Luling said the company would invest 5 million euro to strengthen its distribution network across the country, starting with Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Burg-Wachter would market and sell its products through housing accessories importer German Building Technologies (GBT), which would set up 55 franchisee outlets across the country by 2010 to target both individuals and institutions.

“Through retail sales, we are targeting to mobilise 20 million euro by 2011… We plan to sell 3,000 units of doorlocks in the current fiscal,” GBT chief executive officer Ravi Dutta said.

Luling said the company would consider setting up an assembly unit in India depending upon the demand and studying the quality of local components.

Besides retail network, GBT is also talking to commercial establishments, like hotels, corporate houses and government bodies, for installing the products in their premises.

GBT plans to introduce 12 German premium brands in India. After safes and security systems, kitchen wares would be launched in August. Later it would introduce lighting solutions, wall panels and bathroom solutions among others, the PTI added.
