HDcctv Alliance welcomes five new members
Analog Devices, Inc (NYSE: ADI) is a multinational semiconductor company headquartered in Norwood, USA. With design and manufacturing facilities throughout the world, it specialises in data conversion and signal conditioning technology.
“Analog Devices is constantly evaluating emerging technologies such as HDcctv to determine alignment to our signal processing product capabilities,” said Michael Long, Analog Devices’ security segment manager.
“We’re excited to be joining the HDcctv Alliance as an actively contributing member, and look forward to continuing the process of positioning our existing and potential new product developments for adoption within the burgeoning HDcctv application space.”
Representation from the UK
Based in England with offices in Taiwan, China, Scandinavia and the USA, Cop (UK) has supplied and supported more than 2,000,000 products to the security industry on home shores. Installations range from single-owner/manager companies to large corporations with national installation bases. Its annual turnover is above $10,000,000 USD.
“Cop (UK) believes the HDcctv Alliance represents a major step forward in meeting the ever-increasing demand among our customer base for the higher quality, higher resolution CCTV that network camera solutions cannot fulfil,” said Chris Bentley, the company’s CEO.
“Many of our customers have no networking background, and consider network cameras as belonging to the ‘Big Installers’ Club’. They feel they’re too expensive and complicated to install. HDcctv is the logical way forward for small installations which represent a large proportion of the total UK CCTV installation base. It fits our customer base perfectly.”
Bentley concluded: “HDcctv ideally suits our customers’ requirements and can be realised at an affordable price point. Our plan is to be selling Cop (UK) HDcctv products in the UK by the end of 2010. The product offering will include our own brand cameras and embedded DVRs currently under development. We’ll also be launching a small range of ancillary items like repeaters to provide our customers with a one-stop solution for HDcctv.”
Japanese ‘first’ for the Alliance
The Pacific Corporation is the first Japanese company to join the HDcctv Alliance, and is scheduled to demonstrate a 1080p30 auto-focus, 18x zoom camera built to meet HDcctv v1.0 specifications at its ISC West Booth Number 42003 in Las Vegas (more of the show anon).
“By joining the HDcctv Alliance we gain the ability to collaborate with and share the resources of many companies that have the same goal of bringing the highest quality HD video to the mainstream CCTV market,” explained Isao Omata, director of sales at the Pacific Corporation.
“We can seamlessly work with HDcctv Alliance members and component manufacturers to ensure our products, such as the HD cctv zoom camera, meet high performance standards and are interoperable. This camera incorporates HDcctv Alliance member AltaSens’ wide dynamic range image sensor.”
Diverse range of security solutions
Headquartered in Seoul, Korea, Win4NET manufactures a diverse array of security products including DVRs, NVRs, network software solutions, video servers and auxiliary products that include speed dome cameras, storage boxes, housing and brackets and systems equipment.
The Trium Security brand – established in 2007 as a separate business entity of Win4NET – stands apart as an experienced, professional brand name in the North American security industry, and will be exhibited at ISC West in Booth Number 23097.
“Joining the HDcctv Alliance is in line with our goals to build a new business foundation based on new products that match the customer’s need, combined with extensive promotional campaigns and increased sales,” said Chris Wembridge, sales manager at the company.
“HDcctv and Win4NET principles are consistent: that surveillance and physical security products should be reliable, cost-effective and readily integrated within new systems and procedures.”
Optimisation for high resolution
The UFINE Logics & Chips Co – located in Gyeonggi-do, Korea – has just released a single-chip image signal processor (ISP) optimised for high resolution applications including HDcctv cameras.
UFINE’s ISP chip includes HDcctv interface logic and can process 1080p30 images while implementing such functions as wide dynamic range (WDR), 3D DNR, 3A (AE, AWB, AF), OSD, motion detection and digital zooming. Unique functions can easily be added by firmware inside the microcontroller unit (MCU) embedded in the chip.
“We believe that joining the HDcctv Alliance provides a good opportunity for UFINE and our customers, who are CCTV camera manufacturers developing HDcctv cameras,” said Chang-Hyun Nam, vice-president at the UFINE Logics & Chips Co.
“By implementing HDcctv features in the ISP, UFINE makes it easy for our customers to develop cost-effective HDcctv cameras,” he continued. “Together with our customer partners, we intend to contribute to HDcctv market expansion as an active member of the HDcctv Alliance.”
Basic information on the HDcctv Alliance
The HDcctv Alliance is a non-profit, global consortium that manages global industry specifications for high definition CCTV.
HDcctv systems transmit digital video over various media. HDcctv includes features for security applications, while it’s derived from broadcast industry standards for serialised transmission of uncompressed video over coaxial cable. The Alliance promotes industry adoption of HDcctv, educating the security industry and its end user market.
The Alliance’s compliance program is designed to facilitate the development of high quality, interoperable HDcctv devices. Devices that have passed compliance testing display the HDcctv logo, and are then actively promoted by the Alliance.
Detailed information about the HDcctv Specification is available only to members on the Alliance’s website (a dedicated link is provided on the right hand panel of this page)
Partnership with SMPTE
HDcctv-based systems transmit HDTV signals digitally over conventional CCTV media without ‘packetisation’ and any perceivable compression latency.
The HDcctv Alliance has partnered with SMPTE to reference the family of broadcast video interfaces known as HD-SDI and create a derivative standard to enable plug-and-play security systems and equipment that deliver high resolution, HD surveillance video with no transmission delays, no image artefacts from transmission and with the highest possible signal integrity.
With new members joining from Japan, Korea, England, and the USA, the Alliance is expanding its already significant international presence and diverse array of security products, from component, OEM and branded equipment manufacturers to security sales, support and system installers.
If you’re making the journey to ISC West…
