Arrow door closers
[
A series of fixed and variable power, rack-and-pinion overhead door closers from Arrow Architectural, which help fire doorsets to comply with an opening force of 30N as specified in Approved Document M, have now been tested to efficiencies of up to 77% by Warrington Architectural Product Testing (APT).
Arrow says these high-efficiency closers offer the minimum resistance to opening by the frail, disabled or encumbered, while providing power size EN3 (producing a minimum closing force of 18Nm) for fire doors as laid down in BS EN 1154.
The 77% figure for efficiency considerably exceeds the performance bands given in both BS EN 1154 (55% at EN3) and the technical memorandum amending BS 8300 issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister last year (60%-65% at EN3). Furthermore, the company provides flexible closer solutions for fire door widths less than the 900mm stated in the ODPM Memorandum.
The full test report on efficiencies is available on request from Arrow Architectural for the Arrow 300, 325 and 500 Series. In addition, all models are fire tested to BS EN 1634-1 and carry CE certification for both fire safety and performance.
These versatile door closers suit most applications (regular, parallel and transom mount). Independent door and latching speed adjustment come as standard, while delayed closing and backcheck are optional. Meanwhile all-over covers, safeguarding the speed controls, come in a wide choice of materials and hundreds of finishes.
