Apollo Fire Detectors has released a firmware update for the ‘Apollo Test Set’. The tool, which was released in 2018, is designed to assist engineers and save time in fault finding and loop management.
The update consists of two new main features: Drift Management & Soft Addressing.
Drift Management
Designed to assist maintenance engineers, this new feature will display the contamination as a percentage for Discovery & Soteria detectors. This loop view screen is said to be simple, clear and designed to aid planning for future maintenance visits and reduce the time spent on site.
Compatible with:
Discovery Optical Smoke Detector
Discovery Multisensor Detector
Soteria Optical Smoke Detector
Soteria Multisensor Detector
Soft Addressing
This alternative addressing option allows the installer to soft address Soteria devices by connecting them to the Apollo Test Set. This offers an additional addressing method rather than using the XPERT Card, allowing flexibility in installation.
Devices which are soft addressed will operate with XP95, Discovery and CoreProtocol panels. It is compatible with Soteria devices.
Roger Pimlott, Research & Development Projects Team at Apollo, explains the reasons for the updates: “We were pleased to spend the time updating this important fault-finding tool and are confident that the new features will help to reduce the time spent on-site by the engineer.
“The change to the display of the drift value makes it easier to understand the state of the detectors, allowing maintenance visits to be better planned out. We designed this feature to help the engineers have a smoother visit by simply plugging in the test set and being able to read drift percentages, so they know exactly what detectors they need to clean or replace.
“The ability to soft address Soteria devices from the Test Set allows the products to be programmed ahead of arriving on-site and the loop can be tested before the panel is installed. This addressing option gives the engineer the flexibility to choose between soft addressing the devices or hard addressing using the XPERT Card & binary method.
“We are looking forward to providing more features to improve the Apollo Test Set in the future.”
