State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Abloy combines mechanical security with access control

It has been designed to make key management easier in larger and wide area masterkeying systems.

Users are able to commission, program and control the full administration of security management through web-based software, including the provision of remote access, Abloy said.

Remote access control

Cliq Remote operates from a key receiving access rights and/or time validations through a wall programming unit or a personal programming unit connected to a mobile phone designed to transfer schedules and authorisations for user keys.

It can serve as an extension to existing systems while providing for centralised administration, key management automation and an automated audit trail, with reporting on systems statistics.

Barry Jenkins, Abloy UK general sales manager of market development, said:

“Cliq Remote offers previously unattainable functionality for remote access control. Not only is it easy to install and to use, but also keys can be managed remotely across multiple sites for timed access and keys that get lost can easily have their access rights removed without changing cylinders.

Unique electronic ID
“These advantages, together with detailed audit trails and updates available, means there is then less need for person to person contacts for key updates, less administration and less need for software installations. Cliq Remote really does offer the ultimate synergy between the reliability of mechanical keys and cylinders and some of the benefits of access control.”

The software has also been set up to allow additional data to be written to the keys, this was added to reduce the need to visit each lock individually and upload audit trails automatically.

Cliq technology is based on miniaturised data encryption electronics, which have been embedded directly inside the key and the cylinder. The key contains a unique electronic ID code that cannot be duplicated, altered or corrupted, Abloy said.

The key is battery powered and serves as the power source for the cylinder system too. The range of locks are suitable for external use, and conform to BS EN 1303, while padlocks carry an IP57 water rating.
