ASSA ABLOY UK Specification unveils new design for door closers

A UK subsidiary of locks specialist ASSA ABLOY has launched a new design for its range of advanced door closers.

The new design is designed to appeal to architects and specifiers seeking a wider range of finishes and colour matches.

“Architects dedicate their lives to create beautiful and functional spaces for people to live and work in,” said Christof Ronge, global industrial design director at ASSA ABLOY. “ASSA ABLOY looks to support an architect’s vision with a range of door control solutions that work perfectly and enhance the built environment.”

The new design includes the smooth operation of CAM-Motion, the silence of Close-Motion and ground-breaking Free-Motion technologies, providing safe, secure and legally compliant access.

Alternative installation types, flexible height adjustment and non-handed features are possible.

Tim Checketts, specification director at ASSA ABLOY UK specification, said: “When you see an aesthetically pleasing door closer, you realise what a difference it makes to a door and the surrounding environment. The new ASSA ABLOY design is a statement.”

ASSA ABLOY, which draws on an 80 year-heritage in locks, will launch the new range of door closers at its seminar on design and function in May.

Price and environmental footprint of top-selling door closers are reduced

In other ASSA ABLOY news, its Security Solutions arm has reduced the packaging and price of its DC200 and DC300 rack and pinion door closers.

After listening closely customer feedback, the company developed two new models: the DC200-2 and DC300-2, which have cut down packaging by 60%. They are available in silver and stainless steel finishes.

Minimising packaging has both reduced these products’ environmental impact and price. Product specification and performance remain the same.

The DC200-2 and DC300-2 comply with the recently updated BS 8300 standards for low opening forces and are CE marked and Certifire approved. They are suitable for size EN 2 to 6 applications (850mm to 1400mm).

David Hindle, head of door closer sales at ASSA ABLOY SECURITY SOLUTIONS, said: “By listening to customer feedback, we have dramatically reduced the packaging for these units, which has allowed us to reduce the price for our customers. We are always on the lookout for ways to improve our product and service offering, and these steps have done exactly that. You spoke and we listened.”

ASSA ABLOY is exhibiting at IFSEC International, 19-21 June 2018, ExCeL London. You can find them on stand F320. Register now.
