State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Controlled access at Abu Dhabi’s very own NEC

Once fully complete, the state-of-the-art Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (NEC) complex will offer 55,000 square metres of interconnecting hall space, including a 3,168 square metre atrium and 18,000 square metres of U-shaped concourse.

With the venue set to host some of the world’s largest and most prestigious exhibitions, officials at the NEC required a sophisticated access system that would secure the main hall, the foyer, the registration area, the VIP lounges and executive offices.

The CEM AC2000 system design incorporates a highly-resilient server running under a Linux operating system with Windows XP operator PCs, integration with third party biometrics and CEM InfoProx card readers that provide a third level of system resilience, with unique intelligence at the door.

The InfoProx reader is suited to the exhibition environment as it has an LCD message display that provides end users with an immediate explanation as to why access has been denied. It also boasts an internal database that ensures card validation even when the reader is offline.
