Genie have been confirmed as exclusive distributor of a range of biometric access control products from VIRDI.
The range is equipped with features to reduce the chance of false entry through identity theft, including the ability to detect faked fingerprints made with paper, coated paper, film, silicon, rubber or gelatine.
The units distinguish between real and fake fingerprints using electrostatic capacity technology – to detect electrical discharge like that from a real finger – image analysis technology, and what VIRDI describe as a ‘powerful proprietary algorithm’.
Interestingly, VIRDI claim to have patents on all of the core technology, including the fingerprint sensor, the fake fingerprint detection system, and the algorithm that drives it.
The AC 6000 (one of four sensors in the range) features a 1.3 megapixel digital camera with capacity for up to 100,000 users.
The new sensors are all compatible with Genie’s existing range of access control products. For more information visit www.genieaccess.com
