Oncam launches ExD range: 360-degree single-sensor cameras with explosion-protected housing

Oncam has released a 360-degree single-sensor camera with explosion protected housing – the first camera of its kind.

Available in 5MP and 12MP models the Oncam ExD 360-degree range contains electrical sparks that could otherwise ignite and pose a danger to both people and assets.

This makes the camera suitable for hazardous environments with stringent health and safety regulations.

Sectors/verticals

Hazardous industrial and critical infrastructure environments like oil and gas production and refineries, power and utilities, wastewater treatment, grain handling and storage and other hazardous materials facilities.

Features

  • Flame-proof housing has been certified at a “high” protection level by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IECEx) with the housing protecting an inner explosion from spreading into surrounding air and under ATEX, meaning the cameras can be deployed inapplicable hazardous environments (excluding mining) within the EU
  • Heavy-duty, 316L stainless steel
  • Rated IP66, IP67 and IP68 against water and dust ingress

Oncam says

“The new ExD camera range is the perfect addition to our specialist cameras, which are targeted toward markets that require robust equipment to provide video capture in extreme conditions,” said Jon Marsh, VP for product at Oncam.

“The expanding list of certifications for these cameras, along with Oncam’s attention to the needs of these markets, allow us to provide high-quality 360-degree coverage and intelligent video that increases situational awareness and protects critical assets from threats.”
