Thinking Space nets Control Room projects in the north east
Over the last few months the team members at Thinking Space, which is based on the south coast, have undertaken three security contracts and one transport project in Sunderland, South Tyneside and Newcastle.
The firm was selected by Tyne and Wear-based Valley Watch to supply a high specification suite of technical furniture and display wall systems.
This project was part of a major re-fit and upgrade to the monitoring and detection systems that provide vital safety and security for the businesses located on the Team Valley Business Park.
Thinking Space Systems manufactured a matching pair of command consoles which feature the Novus ergonomic monitor mounting arms.
To mount the Control Room monitors, Thinking Space supplied the very latest Evolution Media Wall system.
Local council security project
In South Tyneside, Thinking Space’s expertise was enlisted for a local council security project which required the installation of state-of-the-art furniture in a Grade 2-listed building.
A large, five-person console was designed with a ‘dropped back’ format to maximise the use of space and PC bays have been included at each end of the console to ensure operators are within easy reach of IT.
Thinking Space also designed a fully-enclosed, free-standing monitor wall to house the current screens which can be modified for screen technologies as and when required in the future.
Wayne Palmer, managing director of the award-winning Hampshire-based firm, said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded these innovative and exciting contracts. It’s great to be raising our profile in the north east.”
He added: “Each of these projects is bespoke and taps into our wealth of design, manufacture and installation know-how. It’s great for us to be able to specify products exclusive to Thinking Space, such as the Evolution Media Wall, which offer a cost-effective, modern and flexible solution.”
Tyne Tunnel Control Room refurbishment
Thinking Space played a key role in the refurbishment of the Tyne Tunnel Control Room managed by TT2. The company manufactured a large, three-tier enclosed monitor wall and curved three-operator console to display and house the new SCADA and CCTV systems installed by other contractors.
The Control Room monitors all three of the Tyne tunnels.
New control room furniture was also designed, built and installed at Newcastle Civic Centre by Thinking Space. The recently relocated council Control Room now features a monitor wall, CCTV console, supervisor desk and review suite for town centre CCTV monitoring.
