Hikvision Evaluation IP series gains Common Criteria cybersecurity certification

Hikvision’s Evaluation IP camera product series (models DS-2CD3 and DS-2CD5) has been certified under the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security with assurance type EAL2 augmented with ALC_FLR.2 (EAL2+).

Also known as Common Criteria or CC, the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security is a widely recognised international standard (ISO/IEC 15408) in information technology security.

Certification offers reassurance to customers that minimum standards around security, reliability and privacy protection have been met.

Hikvision, the global leader in video surveillance by sales volume, passed a rigorous evaluation performed by Common Criteria testing laboratory Brightsight.

Some governments won’t procure security products unless they’ve been certified under the Common Criteria. Governments or their agencies from 28 countries have participated in the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement, including the National Information Assurance Partnership and US Department of Defence.

“Along with the transformation into a networked and intelligent era, security industry is facing unprecedented development opportunities, but also new challenges,” said Dr Wang Bin, Chief Officer at Hikvision Network and Information Security Laboratory and Network Security Department. “Hikvision is always committed to developing quality, safe and innovative security products.”
