State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Fire risk assessors and responsible persons urged to take new Home Office survey

The Home Office is asking those involved in fire risk assessments and Responsible Persons to take new surveys to better understand their roles and capacity, and to help inform future policy. SIA-Survey-20

The fire risk assessment survey follows a similar study carried out in 2022, and is open to anyone who undertakes fire risk assessments.

The survey is designed to provide the UK Government with a better understanding of fire risk assessment capacity within in the building and fire safety sector. It is expected the findings will be used to inform future policy development.

Participation is voluntary for the 10 minute survey, and all answers will be anonymous.

The closing date is Monday 31 July 2023.

You can take the fire risk assessor survey, here.

Responsible Persons survey

The Government has also launched a survey for Responsible Persons (RPs). This is designed to better understand how recent fire safety legislation – such as the Fire Safety Act 2021, the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 – has affected RPs in England.

Anyone who is considered to be an RP (an individual or organisation) is invited to take the survey. Questions cover which buildings you may be responsible for and your experiences and awareness of future legislative changes.

The closing date is also Monday 31 July and responses will remain anonymous.
