Exova BM TRADA Offers Free Training on Fire Protection and RRO Compliance

Exova BM TRADA has announced the line-up for its Fire Protection Measures training programme.

The 2016 seminars, which will take place over half a day, will provide participants with guidance on how to comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRFSO).

The course will cover:

  • Why RRFSO matters and what it means for the ‘responsible person‘ in charge of fire safety
  • The fire-risk assessment and what needs to be considered
  • The importance of having a competent fire-risk assessor
  • The role of third-party certification and the enforcing officer
  • And the legal obligations of the fire-risk assessor

The course will run on three dates:

  • 28 April at The Building Centre, London
  • 12 July at Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield
  • 1 November at the Watershed, Bristol (with breakfast provided)

A panel of respected fire-safety experts has been announced, with the following fire-protection experts signed up to lead the training:

  • Simon Bailey, senior fire protection consultant with extensive experience in assessment, testing and site surveys
  • Niall Rowan, technical officer, Association for Specialist Fire Protection, with over 30 years’ experience
  • Steve Skarratt, head of the Fire Service College’s protection and prevention training
  • Nick Coombe, enforcement lead officer, Chief Fire Officers Association, who draws on 32 years’ service at the London Fire Brigade
  • Carl May-Smith, a barrister with in-depth legal experience on the RRFSO having advised fire authorities and other public bodies on the order

Exova BM TRADA, whose training is CPD-certified and RSPO-endorsed, runs additional courses throughout the year – in fire, timber, management systems and business improvement – either in-house, at your own premises or a at venue of your choice.
