The State of Physical Access Control in EMEA Businesses – 2020 Report

Watch ASIS UK Vice Chairman Mike Hurst Discuss the World’s Biggest Security Association

In this video, fire and security recruitment specialist Mike Hurst champions ASIS: the world’s biggest membership body representing the security industry.

ASIS, which has chapters in 70 countries, has been influential in shaping standards and certifications worldwide since 1955 and instrumental in the industry’s professionalisation in recent decades.

The ASIS UK chapter – for which Hurst is vice chairman – runs regular seminars and training days for security professionals, publishes a quarterly newsletter with contributions from respected security professionals and champions its members and the security profession in government and public forums.

In his role as ASIS UK vice chairman Hurst is influential in shaping the organisation’s professional development, education and networking programmes.

In 1992 he also founded recruitment firm HJA Fire and Security.

Specialising in executive and mid to senior-management level roles HJA Fire and Security fills vacancies in a wide range of disciplines and sectors, including:

  • Corporate security (security management, risk, business continuity etc)
  • Electronic security (CCTV, access control, intruder etc)
  • Fire systems ( detection, suppression and protection)
  • Physical security (gate automation, locking, perimeter etc)
  • Manned security/guarding

Hurst is also a director at the Security Institute and a member of the ASIS European Advisory Council.
