State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Royal Military Police enlists Radio Tactics’ technology for mobile phone examinations

The Aceso solution enables end users to examine and interrogate digital mobile devices both quickly and accurately without the need for in-depth forensic knowledge.

More specifically, Aceso Field is a lightweight, rugged terminal that offers accurate reporting of data acquired from mobile devices on the frontline.

Recognised as a leading provider of mobile device forensics equipment for the UK Ministry of Defence, Radio Tactics has now tailored the Aceso units specifically for the Royal Military Police such that the latter can roll-out Aceso to all its Companies around the world in order to quickly process mobile phones in an evidentially sound forensic environment.

Aceso and Aceso Field are “pioneering products” that rapidly extract evidentially sound data from mobile phones, digital devices, SIM and media cards.

Aceso Field enjoys the added benefit that it’s fully portable, providing personnel on the front line with instant access to the often vital information that Aceso can recover.

The extensive audit trail and key card access system Aceso provides ensures that the Royal Military Police can be fully confident in maintaining the most stringent levels of security in all of its operations.

In support of MoD operations at home and abroad

The Royal Military Police deploys as part of the field army, supporting all MoD operations at home and overseas.

The force is responsible for policing the military community worldwide by dint of the fact that all service personnel are subject to English criminal law wherever they may be serving the Crown.

Major Keith Miller, officer commanding the Service Police Crime Bureau of the Royal Military Police, explained: “Forensic analysis of evidence is a critical element of any investigation. Given the ever-increasing demands from the Service Prosecuting Authority and High Court for evidential integrity and speed of analysis, it’s essential that we are able to respond both quickly and with confidence to the investigative team. Aceso offers this capability.”

Major Miller continued: “In an effort to reduce pressure on the Royal Military Police’s High-Tech Crime Team, and at the same time speed up the process of the investigation, we’ve looked to Aceso to provide a front line capability for the more routine activity. This will alleviate the demands on the High-Tech Crime Team and offer a rapid analysis of mobile phones by the investigator at source.”

All Royal Military Police Companies around the world will soon be in possession of the Aceso, with specialist areas receiving the Aceso Field [Special Investigations Branch and Afghanistan].

“Radio Tactics has remained very fluid to our personal requirements,” added Major Miller. “The collaboration will no doubt prove to be of immense benefit over the coming years throughout the service and Home Office Police Forces.”

Customisation of solutions for the client

Radio Tactics’ customers include all arms of the British criminal justice system, military and commercial organisations in the UK and on the international stage.

The company is able to customise its products to the specification of the client, allowing every product to reach its optimum potential for the end user.

With its team of highly dedicated specialists, Radio Tactics offers comprehensive support to every client on an individual basis.

Andy Gill, the company’s CEO, told SMT Online: “The information that seized mobile phones hold can prove vital to ongoing enquiries and may provide essential leads. That being so, personnel need a solution that can rapidly access and retrieve information while retaining its evidential integrity.”

He added: “We’re looking forward to working further with the MoD to develop this partnership and evolve our solutions in line with the ever-changing needs of the British Armed Forces.”
