Renowned for housing one of the largest global collections of printed and digital material, the British Library is the UK’s national library. It holds over 170 million items, ranging from newspapers and maps to sound recordings, patents, academic journals and more.
As IFSEC Insider found out from its Head of Security, Riyaz Somani, last year, the site requires an extensive commitment to managing high level security processes to guard its assets and keep public traffic flowing through freely.
From 1 July 2023, STM Group (UK) will support the delivery of securing the British Library. The company says it looks forward to leveraging its extensive experience, expertise, and levels of commitment, in ensuring the security and safety of the Library’s collections, as well as its staff and many visitors.
The STM team assigned to the contract consists of a significant number of dedicated personnel, requiring a diverse range of skill sets, including expertise in safeguarding cultural institutions.
The on-site team will undertake a comprehensive range of duties, including perimeter security, access control, patrolling and response, event support, and visitor management.
