BSIA appoints IFSEC Global ‘influencer’ as managing director at Skills for Security

The BSIA has appointed David Scott as the new managing director of Skills for Security.

Scott arrives after eight years working for New College Lanarkshire, where as curriculum & quality manager he was instrumental in the college becoming the UK’s largest provider of fire and security apprenticeships.

A former apprentice himself, Scott is qualified to degree level in teaching and management and recently became an accredited chartered manager with the Chartered Management Institute.

Scott also ranked number three in the System design, installation & integration category in the IFSEC Global influencers 2018.

At Skills for Security, which widens access to training and apprenticeships, he will focus on growing apprenticeship participation, strengthening employer engagement and raising training standards.

“I am delighted to announce David Scott’s appointment as the new managing director of Skills for Security,” said Mike Reddington, Chief Executive, BSIA.

“His commitment to the industry is clearly evident and he regularly attends key industry events across the UK to deliver engaging and promotional talks about training.

“I believe that David’s passion, knowledge, drive, skills and experience, combined with the support of the Skills for Security team means that the number of apprentices we put through our training programmes will grow significantly, and that Skills for Security will achieve its strategic aim of becoming the UK leader in this sector.”
