Subjected to rigorous testing the product successfully meet the criteria for class 8 performance under the standard.
A Winkhaus AV2 lock was a key ironmongery component of the one million cycle test undertaken, meeting the requirements of ‘Secured by Design’. The test was conducted with Falcon’s standard 44mm core, while the fixings were all as boxed and the leaf produced by a third-party manufacturer who produced the doorset to their standard production procedures.
The doorset was then removed from the BM TRADA testing rig and subjected to a 30-minute fire resistance test to BS EN 1634-1. The product maintained integrity for a full 48 minutes before finally breached the criteria. The leaf was unlatched, opening into the furnace, which was the most onerous configuration.
The results suggested that Strebord fire doors could conceivably meet BS EN 1634-1 requirements even after several years of daily use.That the product successfully met these requirements also paves the way for gaining CE Marking, which becomes a mandatory requirement, potentially as early as mid-2015.
