Deaf smoke alarm range unveiled

Aico has announced the launch of the Ei170RF alarm system for deaf or hard or hearing people, for use with RadioLink wireless interconnect mains powered smoke and heat alarm system.
According to the manufacturer, those who need an alarm for the deaf can also now have the benefits of a wireless system. These include greatly reduced damage to a property, increased tenant compliance, greater design flexibility and much faster installation time.
The unit is designed to warn of a smoke or heat alarm activation and consists of a control box with an integral strobe light and a separate vibration plug-in pad. The control box uses RF technology to interconnect the system wirelessly. The high intensity built-in Xenon strobe with a specially designed lens provides wide-angled light output.
The control box has a ‘test’ button which makes it easy to test the system when needed. Visual indicators confirm RF transmission, power and battery status. The vibration pad has a simple plug-in connection to the control box and is designed to be placed under a pillow to wake people who fail to respond to the visual warning sign.
The unit is designed to be powered from a permanent mains supply. However, it also contains a sealed lead-acid rechargeable battery which will provide back-up power in case of mains failure.
Aico has also published a new product guide covering its Ei Professional range of mains powered fire, smoke, heat and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms. The guide is colour coded into different sections including Aico’s specifier range of alarms, its 140 series alarms for contractors, CO alarms and the company’s RadioLink technology.
In addition, the guide also covers the company’s 150 series of smoke alarms, low voltage smoke and heat alarms, special needs systems and additional devices such as the Ei411h remote control switch for locate, hush and test functions.
