State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

AMG Systems launches hybrid product series at Intersec 2011

The new 5800/5900 Series solutions are to be unveiled at Intersec 2011, and will be available both as stand-alone and as rack mount options.

The 5800/5900 Series solutions offer the following feature functionality:

  • point-to-point transmission
  • only 1x multimode or single mode fibre required
  • 1x uncompressed analogue video
  • 1x 10/100 Base T Ethernet port
  • 3x independent bi-directional RS485/422/232 channels
  • 8x alarm inputs/outputs
  • low cost 3U 12 slot PSU rack (a dual redundant option is available)

Showcasing the 6100 Series

AMG will further showcase its 6100 Series, launched in July. The 6100 Series has been developed specifically for the CCTV security market, offering drop and insert, dual redundant fibre optic transmission solutions with built-in LED diagnostics.

It brings together the benefits of the most sophisticated high end transmission technologies used in transportation systems in a low cost product range designed for the general security market.

The 6100 Series provides transmission of up to eight video channels along with one low speed data channel, and can be configured in either a single fibre ‘drop and insert’ topology or linear spurs.

This approach allows for significant cost savings on the infrastructure, installation and maintenance without any increase in equipment cost.

It can be configured to collect individual or multiple video signals (eg around a site perimeter, a city centre or prison facility) in a ‘daisy chain’ and transmit them all back to one or multiple Control Rooms (or drop off sites).

This allows for significant savings on fibre optic infrastructure when compared with traditional methods of video collection (ie single channel point-to-point transmission).

Built-in LED diagnostics

A new key feature in the product range is the built-in LED diagnostics which enable the location of a fibre breakage to be easily identified from any equipment location and from any position within the loop.

Founder and managing director of AMG Systems, Dr Alan Hayes, told info4security.com: “As well as being a meeting point for speaking with our Middle East customers and partners, Intersec provides AMG with an excellent opportunity to launch new products.”

According to Hayes, the company wanted to develop a product which offers multi-channel drop and insert video transmission together with associated low speed data signals on one resilient single mode fibre loop, using self-healing ring capabilities and weighing in “with a very affordable price tag”.

Hayes added: “I’m delighted to say that we have achieved this objective with the 6100 Series. The new hybrid series has also been developed to address specific requirements in the market, and I’m looking forward to discussing applications with customers.”

AMG Systems can be found on Stand 5-104 C at Intersec 2011
