State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

CCTV and perimeter fence protecting model raceway

Opened on the 10th of June, Finchwood Raceway offers some of the country’s best facilities for radio-control car racing. Yately School Car Club, which uses the circuit for both local and national events, chose safety firm Drax to provide a CCTV and access control solution at the site.

Club Chairman, Ian Finch said:

“Having invested so much time and money into the circuit, we were keen to ensure that the facilities remain of a high standard, whilst allowing members to use the circuit for practice.”

To protect the raceway from unwanted visitors, Drax installed a two-metre-high fence with a single pedestrian gate and a Paxton Net2 access control system. This, they say, will still allow club members to practice at the circuit outside normal race times.

Finch said: “Sadly, there have been issues with vandalism in the area so we decided to record activity in and around the track via CCTV as well.”

In line with the club’s limited budget, Drax say they installed a simple but cost effective CCTV system comprising an AVerMedia Digital recorder and two IR cameras which record events when triggered either by gate access or other movement.
