“protected for many years to come”

CLD Fencing Systems deploys ‘police-preferred’ fencing at defence manufacturer site

CLD Fencing Systems has completed a large security project for one of the UK’s major defence manufacturers.

Working in collaboration with Allens Total Perimeter Security, the UK’s largest manufacturer of rigid mesh fencing systems and security gates first specified a solution for the client’s headquarters and production site in 2016.

CLD Fencing Systems, which has several fencing systems ‘approved for government use’, boasts the credentials to satisfy exacting criteria required to win contracts for critical national infrastructure projects and in other high security environments.

Deploying its Securus SR1 system at the site, the company has given the client scope to upgrade its fence line without major disruption should the threat level increase. A second ‘skin’ and security fixings can transform the product from an LPS 1175 SR1 system to SR2, tripling its minimum delay against attack.

Incorporating swing and sliding gates Securus SR1 now covers more than one kilometre of the site.

Securus SR1 is Secure By Design-accredited, meaning it meets stringent criteria set out in the Police Preferred Specification (PPS). The accreditation is contingent on passing vigorous tests and audits conducted by an accredited third-party organisation.

“As we expand the site and production facilities, we now have the ability to keep staff and assets secured and protected for many years to come.” Representative of the defence manufacturer that commissioned the project

CLD Fencing Systems recently launched the first temporary fencing system to meet the PPS standard – the 13th perimeter security system developed by company to do so.

Allens TPS, a member of CLD’s Approved Contractors Scheme (ACS), secured the installation work in 2018 with the latest phase scheduled to complete in early 2019. Founded in 1950 the company is a market leader in the installation of high security fencing systems and physical access control.

A representative of the south of England-based defence manufacturer, a world leader in its field for over 70 years, said: “Working alongside CLD Fencing Systems and Allens throughout the project has allowed a constant review of our requirements to meet our future needs. As we expand the site and production facilities, we now have the ability to keep staff and assets secured and protected for many years to come.”

Said Stewart Plant, director of marketing at CLD Fencing Systems: “Helping to achieve the end clients security aims through accredited fencing systems is one of the reasons why we continue to promote Secured by Design on projects around the UK. Protecting key assets requires a guaranteed delay against attack that is offered with all Secured by Design systems in the CLD Fencing Systems range.”

In 2018 CLD Fencing Systems shipped almost 4km of rigid mesh fencing systems a day from its Cheshire-based headquarters around the world.

The Secured by Design (SBD) initiative helps stakeholders like specifiers, architects and manufacturers ‘design out crime’ at the design and planning stage of construction projects and security products. One million homes have already been built to SBD standards with subsequent reductions in crime of up to 87%.

SBD has partnered with the Home Office, Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government and the Police Service as well as local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers. It also collaborates with standards and certification bodies to ensure publicly available standards meet the needs of both the police and general public.

CLD Fencing Systems’ products will be subjected to physical attack – by a range of hand tools – live at IFSEC International 2019, in the Attack Testing Zone. CLD Fencing Systems (stand IF1050) and Secure By Design (stand IF746a) will both also have exhibition stands within the IFSEC venue, ExCeL London. IFSEC International is Europe’s leading integrated security event, taking place 18-20 June 2019. Book your free ticket now.
