I4S video: Essex Police ‘bust moves’ to cut crime at V Festival

“Stay safe while busting moves at the V Festival” – that was the clear message from Essex Police as the two-day, sold-out event at Hylands Park approached last weekend.

Gig-goers were told; “We want everyone going to the festival at Hylands Park to have a smashing time, but please watch out for those nasty rascals who are there to spoil your fun.”

This year, Essex Police teamed up with the festival in encouraging visitors to look after their valuables – by launching a cool video on YouTube.

Last year, theft at the V Festival increased so Essex Police devised the video to show what can happen if revellers don’t keep their phones, cameras, ‘wonga’ and other expensive goodies safe and secure.

The video (below), featuring groovy mover Sue and a sneaky thief, was shown on big screens at the festival. Around 90,000 people attended each day of this year’s event.

A statement on the Essex Police website reads: “Officers will be patrolling Hylands Park on foot and pedal bike during the two-day event and won’t tolerate those who set out to spoil it for others by committing crime. Those who do could find themselves locked in a cell on our prisoner van.”

Essex Police also worked closely with the Essex Drug and Alcohol Partnership (EDAP) to make this year’s V Festival a safe event.

Anyway, watch the video. It’s fun… and effective.
