IFSEC Global podcast – Episode One: Diversifying security and developing a professional network

In the first episode of the IFSEC Global Security in Focus podcast, we speak with Letitia Emeana, Global Security Capability Manager at Unilever, and the ASIS International UK Chapter Chair & Board Director. We discuss the dynamism of the physical security sector, why growing your global network as a security professional is so important and diversifying the industry.

Letitia has been active in security since 2001 and is the Chair of the ASIS UK Chapter. She qualified with her ASIS PSP in December 2007, IT Governance CISMP 2014 and ASIS CPP in 2017. Letitia is a multi-disciplinary security professional and leader with significant experience in Security Design, Security Technology and Security Implementation. She is currently the Global Security Capability Manager at Unilever and held previous Leadership positions at Tesla, Amazon and Lloyds Banking Group. She is a passionate advocate for Diversity in its broadest sense and was core to the establishment of Women’s Security groups in Amazon, Tesla and Unilever.

The discussion touches on a variety of aspects of the physical security industry in its present state, as well as Letitia’s own experiences and why building a network through an association such as ASIS has been so important for the development of her career and skillset. In her role as UK Chapter Chair, she is keen to push engagement with members to new heights and continue to provide great education and networking opportunities, particularly for young professionals and ensure they’re aware of the paths open to them in the sector. In addition, Letitia underlines why it is crucial that associations in security work together to improve diversity and inclusion initiatives.
