  • <B>Ancillary</b> <B>Data protected</b>
  • Securikey has launched data vault safes in two sizes, offering protection for computer media against fire, dust, humidity, electro-static damage and theft.
  • The free standing safes can be used in the home or office and have a high quality finish allowing them to blend into most environments, yet offering protection with a double skinned, concrete filled, steel casing.
  • The safes have been tested in Sweden to NT Fire 017-60 Data Standard, providing certified protection from fire at 950 degrees C for 60 minutes.
  • A programmable electronic keypad allows easy locking using PIN codes, with access to the power source via a front panel ensuring operation at all times.
  • The company offers a warranty of labour and maintenance ensuring free replacement of the safe if its contents are destroyed by fire.
  • <B>Water diviner</b>
  • Vimpex Ltd’s Hydrosense water leakage detection system protects computer IT suites, communication equipment and electrical systems from being damaged by water. The system continuously monitors vulnerable areas for water leakage. It can also be integrated with fire, security and safety systems to provide total protection.
  • Hydrosense uses two methods of water detection – probes and hydrowire. Probes are either floor mounted with an adjustable height setting or fitted to an AC drip tray. Detection cables are available in 5m and 10m lengths and can monitor large areas. Water absorbed by capillary action causes the Hydrowire system to alarm.
  • The system is easy to install and can be used in HVAC, sprinkler systems and water-cooled plant. It is available as a 1-24 zone system as standard, but other configurations are available. All alarm circuits are fully monitored and remote water alarm units are available to quickly identify the source of alarm.
  • <B>Robust operator</b>
  • BPT Automation’s new MEC 800 electro-hydraulic gate operator makes light work of handling gates weighing up to 800kg, while a single drive unit used with two MEC 800s can operate gates weighing up to 1,600kg.
  • Available in two stroke lengths, the standard operator will open a single gate leaf up to 2.5m or 3.5m wide if two operators are used. The long operator handles a single gate leaf up to 3m wide and up to 5m wide if two units are installed together.
  • The MEC uses a powerful, air-cooled motor to cope with the frequent duty cycles of large, heavy or wind-affected gates and doors. Gate opening and closing is activated by a choice of radio transmitters, card readers, key switches, digital keypads or push buttons.
  • The MEC 800 conforms to the UNI 8612 safety standard. It includes hydraulic locking in both open and closed positions as well as a quick reacting anti-crush facility. A non-locking setting is also available if the MEC 800 is to operate with magnetic or electric locks.
  • The durable system can operate in temperatures ranging from -20 degrees C to 80 degrees C.
  • <B>Boxing futuristic</b>
  • Abloy Security has launched a high security system that controls the authorised access of keys. The KeyBox combines modern technology, a sound security concept and cost-efficiency.
  • The modular system offers a choice of one, two, or six lockers per KeyBox. Access to each locker is by a personal PIN code allowing authorised personnel to control access to keys, and to monitor when keys are collected and returned.
  • By using KeyWin PC software, the KeyBox offers security managers advanced monitoring from a central computer anywhere in the world. The software monitors each time the cabinet is opened, showing who has opened which cabinet, and allowing users to edit and filter information.
  • The most advanced KeyBox system, Keycon, can manage 2000 PINs and store up to 4000 events. Key storage can be expanded, with a fully expanded system providing storage for up to 3,500 keys.
  • With the Keycon system, each key or bunch of keys has a dedicated and intelligent peg. The peg is placed in a special strip inside a KeyBox cabinet or on a wall rack. Individual PINs are then given out to authorised users so that if an unauthorised person tries to remove a key with an incorrect PIN or if the wrong key is taken from the cabinet, an alarm is triggered.
  • <B>CCTV</b>
  • <B>Vandal resistant domes</b>
  • Sanyo has launched a range of vandal resistant domes with integrated cameras. Designed for banks, schools, prisons, hospitals, retail environments, subways and public buildings where high impact rugged enclosures are required, the range includes seven models to complement Sanyo’s VCB 9112P and VCB-9612P domes which proved popular due to their high image quality.
  • The integrated cameras come in a wide choice of configurations varying from standard resolution monochrome cameras to high-resolution colour cameras with varifocal lenses. Die cast enclosures are also available in both surface mount and flush mounted versions, and there is also a conical non-grip version.
  • There are five models in the range. The VDC-C1572FP is a surface mounted colour dome and the VDC-C2572FP and VDC-B2512FP are flush mounted colour and monochrome domes respectively. All have been designed to provide cost-effective solutions for industrial applications.
  • The VDC-B1512FP is a monochrome surface mounted version of the flush mounted colour dome that is suited for night clubs. And the VDC-C3072VP is an aesthetically appealing cased conical non-grip dome for high risk commercial sites, such as banks.
  • <B>Deceptive camera</b>
  • Sure Vision is distributing Video Domain’s MemoCam, which is a compact, stand alone camera, PIR detector and smart VCR all in one device. Aimed at sites where quick installation is required, the MemoCam needs just one mains cable to be set up.
  • Events are recorded on an internal memory card when activated by the built-in PIR alarm and images can be downloaded on to a PC. The device is covert, discreet and powerful and ideal for recording activities in a number of different locations.
  • Other products in the MemoCam range include the MemoCam Plus, with two video inputs for additional cameras, one video output for real time monitoring and storage capacity to 10,000 images, weekly scheduler and video motion detector.
  • The MemoCam DVR has the same functionality as the MemoCam Plus, but has three outputs, creating a multiple camera CCTV system that reduces the cost per video input.
  • <B>Plug in and go</b>
  • JVC has added a video transmission encoder to its range of network surveillance solutions. The smart VN-AIU device allows users to plug an analogue surveillance system into a digital network. It transforms analogue video into high quality motion JPEGs at up to 30 fps and is a simple, cost-effective solution for transmitting video over an Ethernet network.
  • The images and live video are accessible from any computer and the VN-AIU comes complete with a host of security features such as motion detection, alarm recordings, pan, tilt and zoom, and remote control over all JVC’s cameras.
  • <B>Silent Witness on the buses</b>
  • The Digital Chaperone from Silent Witness comprises the MDR100 mobile digital recorder, which has its own suspension system, with the customer’s own choice of Silent Witness camera. The recorder writes reliably to a hard drive over rough roads ensuring a high value, versatile system that increases student and driver safety on school buses.
  • With high quality images stored on a digital hard drive, Digital Chaperone provides fast and easy image retrieval, printing, distributing and archiving. A built-in camera switcher accepts video signals from two sources, a camera inside the bus and an additional camera, which records drivers who ignore the extended Stop Arm.
  • With no tapes to replace or store, users can save time and money. The low maintenance system is housed in a tamper and impact resistant enclosure.
  • <B>Entry level applications</b>
  • The Vista NCL/NCD third-inch colour and mono camera kits – exclusively available from Norbain SD – have been designed for entry-level applications, without compromising quality of image or features provided. A notable feature is the integral 4-9mm direct drive varifocal lens.
  • This combination of camera and varifocal lens removes the time and effort required by the installer to select a lens and allows more flexi-bility in the choice of camera position.
  • As the camera kits also come complete with a miniature bracket, 240v AC, 12v DC power supply unit and two BNC connectors, the insta-llation is made all the more simple.
  • There are four kits in the NCL/NCD range, two of which are mono with 380 and 580 TVL resolution, plus a light sensitivity of 0.1 and 0.3 lux respectively. The two colour models have 330 and 480 TVL and light sensitivity to 0.8 and 1.2 lux respectively.
  • <B>Mini monitor</b>
  • Aimed at a range of space saving installations, JVC’s new mini monitor has a screen size of just 10 inches allowing it to squeeze into tight corners.
  • The TM-A101G boasts 300 TV lines of horizontal resolution and its compact cabinet design minimises height and depth for easy side-by-side installation.
  • The versatile monitor delivers crisp pictures and is fully adjustable via its on-screen menu with simple front panel controls.
  • Other features include selectable aspect ratio, dual video/audio input/built-in loudspeaker as well as a detachable loudspeaker.
  • <B>Eneo camera double acts</b>
  • Eneo has added two colour cameras with 230v AC input voltage to complete its product range.
  • The VKC-1310 is a 1/3 inch colour camera with a resolution of 330 TV lines. Its high light sensitivity of 0.45 lux at F1.2 delivers brilliant pictures even in adverse conditions.
  • The high-resolution VKC-1311 has a resolution of 470 TV lines and a sensitivity of 1.3 lux at F1.2.
  • Both the VKC-1310 and the VKC-1311 offer automatic gain control, a linear shutter with flicker free mode, automatic electronic shutter control, horizontal and vertical aperture correction as well as back light compensation and automatic or manual white balance.
  • Two new black and white cameras have also been launched as successors to Eneo’s VK-135 and VK-136 cameras.
  • The 1/3rd inch VK-1315 and VK-1316 cameras deliver an acceptable picture at a lighting intensity of 0.1 lux and the VK-1316 does the same up to 0.18 lux (F1.2).
  • The super HAD CCD sensor of the latest Sony chip generation and automatic gain control guarantee that the two cameras have high light sensitivity. Both also offer automatic electronic shutter control up to 1/100,000 second, horizontal and vertical aperture correction as well as back light compensation.
  • <B>Upgraded cameras</b>
  • Baxall has upgraded its CDR range of remote control cameras to incorporate RS485 allowing integration with third party pan, tilt and zoom controllers.
  • The new cameras will be known as the CDRA range, featuring four low voltage digital signal processing models to cover both mono and colour applications. They are available in 1/2 inch and 1/3 inch high resolution and EXview variants, the latter being useful for low light applications. They can be controlled and configured from the control room, via Baxall’s coaxial telemetry. This enables a reduction in installation time and minimal site disruption whenever a camera needs adjusting.
  • Remote set-up is complemented by features such as advanced back light compensation and peak white inversion, which are scene-dependent and cannot be set up at the pre-build stage.
  • Cameras can also be configured differently for night time and daytime lighting using an external switch such as a PIR or photocell.
  • <B>First cut</b>
  • Sanyo has developed the first 1/3 inch 1-CCD camera to achieve horizontal resolution of 520 lines at low light levels. The VCC-6572P uses Sanyo’s EX-View chip providing a sophisticated backlight compensation function and aperture compensation to produce superb images at light levels as low as 0.2 lux.
  • Other features include excellent colour reproduction using a new digital signal processing circuitry built into the VCC-6592P allowing it to reproduce natural colours and reduce smear on images.
  • The VCC-6952P can also provide a clear picture of off-centre and moving subjects using advanced backlight compensation which divides individual frames into small areas in which luminous intensity is measured separately to determine the lighting conditions of all objects within the frames.
  • <B>Upgrade hat-trick</b>
  • VCL has added two more major technical upgrades to its range of Microsphere cameras at no extra cost to installers. Having recently added the NVT Inside feature to the entire Orbiter Gold and Orbiter Lite camera ranges, the company has now put ExView CCDs into its 18 X colour/mono cameras and added a multiple protocol facility to all the Gold models.
  • The ExView CCDs enable the cameras to produce clearer, sharper images in low light, while the multiple protocol facility enables the units to connect instantly to any of the major brands of telemetry equipment without external converters.
  • <b>Digital flush</b>
  • Baxall has followed the launch of its first digital recorder with a complete range of DTL recorders. The DTL range has been divided into two, providing Ethernet compatibility and audio as well as models without to cover budget conscious applications through to the top end of the market.
  • The Ethernet versions of the DTL recorders enable users to connect directly to an existing Ethernet LAN or WAN, allowing authorised users to view live or recorded images, and save or distribute them to others.
  • The existing 30Gb hard drive has also been upgraded to 40Gb with a further two models giving 80Gb and 160Gb recording capacities.
  • The full range of DTL digital recorders can be operated via a Baxall ZKX keyboard and/or a multiplexer, allowing easy upgrades when necessary because only the VCR needs to be replaced.
  • <b>Multiple views</b>
  • Videolarm has brought out a series of indoor and outdoor multi-camera systems called the Q-View series. Each Q-View housing contains multiple cameras mounted on segmented flexible bracket arms enabling it to be used in applications where users may have previously needed several housings or a unitized camera system.
  • The series is available in six housing configurations including indoor pendant, recessed ceiling, corner, wall or surface mount models and an outdoor wall/pendant mount dome complete with heater/blower options for all environmental applications. A choice of hi-res black and white, standard colour, or hi-res colour cameras is offered with fixed, vari-focal or auto-iris lenses, all backed by a five year warranty from Videolarm.
  • <B>Access control</b> <B>Installation times halved</b>
  • Comelit has launched what’s claimed to be the first two-wire bus video door entry system which greatly simplifies installation and reduces the time required to have a system up and running. Installers can save more than 50% of installation time on systems linking 10 video users or with 15 audio users.
  • The Simplebus system requires just two non-polarised wires to construct a door entry or video door entry system with up to 100 users. All the return conductors from individual apartments, the coaxial cable and the video distributors are eliminated and there are no centralised decoders to be distributed where the two wires converge.
  • The system is ideal because it enables existing wires to be used, since the Simplebus technology allows use of two wires of any type. Twisted conductors are not needed and the cross-section required is 0.28 mm2 even for video systems.
  • <B>Locking all points</b>
  • ASSA has introduced a family of multipoint locking systems for high security areas. The systems have a modular construction allowing them to be adapted to meet many non-standard applications, and add strength and stability to the doorset by securing the door with steel bolts at several points. They can also be incorporated into new or existing master key control programmes, and be fitted with a choice of ASSA high security cylinders.
  • The locking systems incorporate three and four point locking facilities to accommodate different levels of security, with high security options for emergency exits, and both automatic and manual deadbolting requirements.
  • The systems also meet the BS EN 1125 standard for panic exit devices and BS EN 179 for emergency exit devices. A special option has also been successfully tested to LPS 1175 Grade 4 when fitted to a security door.
  • Other features of the multipoint locking systems include manual and automatic locking functions and concealed components reducing the risk of vandalism. Options include a key-controlled microswitch facility for linking to building alarm systems, a single action escape facility conforming to BS EN 1125 and BS EN 179, and a key dogging function which ensures the door remains unlocked when required.
