CNL forms strategic partnership with ESRI (UK)

An official statement released by CNL explains that the partnership will help both businesses “become more profitable” and render their public services “even more efficient” through a better understanding and analysis of location-based information.

ESRI (UK) is part of the ESRI global business network, and boasts more than 300,000 customers in 150 countries worldwide. ESRI technology runs on more than one million desktops and thousands of web and enterprise servers, providing the backbone for the world’s mapping and spatial analysis.

In a nutshell, ESRI (UK) is the leading provider of geographic information system (GIS) technology.

Within the partnership, ESRI (UK) will work with CNL through its ESRI Developer program and CNL’s Technology Alliance Programme (TAP) to help organisations think and plan geographically in order to make better decisions, keep communities safer and create a more sustainable world through greater efficiencies.

Key component of situational awareness

Keith Bloodworth, the CEO at CNL, told info4security: “The need to visualise all resources geographically is a key component of situational awareness. Without it, you can see activities taking place but cannot give operators the required amount of clarity to deploy the best resource to resolve an incident.”

This is particularly true of the size of projects now being worked on at CNL, where some of the facilities under scrutiny have perimeters of over 50 km in length. Despatching the wrong resource here would cause unnecessary delays in responding to critical situations.

“It’s through partnerships with technology developers that we’re able to give organisations the tools to manage their environments intelligently, efficiently and, most importantly, securely,” added Geoff Tennant, solutions partner manager at ESRI (UK). “Without such partnerships, interoperability between life safety technologies would not be possible.”

Tennant continued: “CNL’s integration platform IPSecurityCenter will allow ESRI end users to bring their entire security estate into one system, managed via a workflow-based operator interface. Additionally, the integration of these two technologies will allow existing users of CNL’s PSIM technology to leverage greater efficiencies and significantly improve their operations.”

Interoperability for security systems

The TAP program was initiated by CNL to allow interoperability between disparate security technologies, giving end users the ability to create optimised solutions for risk reduction within their organisations.

It provides TAP partners with a Device Driver Kit (DDK) to allow faster and deeper integration within the CNL Partner Ecosystem.

ESRI (UK) has been providing GIS solutions for over 20 years to a wide range of markets including central and local Government, the commercial arena, defence and national security specialists and practitioners across the education, public safety, utilities and telecommunications sectors, at the same time catering for systems integrators and application developers through the ESRI Developer Network.

Today, ESRI technology runs on more than one million desktops and thousands of web and enterprise servers, providing the backbone for the world’s mapping and spatial analysis.

CNL’s award-winning technology, meanwhile, is deployed to secure cities, critical resources and global commerce.

Indeed, the company’s software sits at the heart of some of the largest, most complex and ground-breaking security integration and business value initiatives in the world. Its work with leading organisations is helping to shape the future of security by offering thought leadership on key issues such as energy reduction, process compliance and business advantage in converged environments.
