Onssi supplies networked video system at Vancouver games stadium
It makes up part of a complete security solution supplied and installed by Cobra Integrated Systems (CIS) to prepare the stadium for the Games, in February this year.
Onssi’s Ocularis, a physical security information management (PSIM) software platform has been integrated with around 106 cameras.
The system includes four servers with three RAID5 storage arrays and three client workstations using touch screens.
BC Place, which closed for construction shortly after the 2010 Winter Games, is to be new home for the Vancouver MLS franchise, and will continue to be home to the BC Lions Football Club and the 2011 Grey Cup when it reopens next year.
Nine days to complete
It took nine days for Cobra Integrated Systems to complete the installation in time for the Games.
Mulli Diamant, who works in sales at Onssi, said: “Onssi is proud to have been chosen to participate in this important installation.
“We designed Ocularis with open architecture and advanced features to meet the challenges of demanding security applications like BC Place.”
Expansion and open-architecture
Geoff Thomas, senior account manager, Cobra Integrated Systems said: “The Onssi video solution was appropriate for this application because it provides a seamless migration path to future expansion and added functionality.
“The software-based network video recorder (NVR) platform is a completely scalable, open-architecture, non-proprietary solution.
“Benefits of Ocularis include the ability to accommodate megapixel cameras and existing video encoders, user-friendly touch-screen monitors and easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI), video analytics, and access for multiple users. OnssiI’s Universal Camera Support enables legacy cameras to continue working alongside newer models.”
