On-demand Webinar

WATCH: Is there a lack of ethnic and cultural diversity in leadership in security & safety?

Watch back a webinar that was recorded live on 8 March 2023, featuring a discussion between leading security and safety professionals on ethnic and cultural diversity in leadership positions.

Studies conducted on diversity in the private sector show that businesses with a greater representation of ethnic and cultural minorities in leadership positions perform better.

Hear from leaders in the safety and security community as we discuss whether barriers remain in working towards more ethnically and culturally diverse leadership in the sectors. If the answer to our question of whether there is a lack of diversity in leadership is ‘yes’, then why does this pose an issue for the future of the sectors? And, what can organisations and leaders do to ensure long-term, systemic change is put in place to remove any barriers to open up the sectors to the next generation?

In this webinar, we covered key questions, including:

  • Why is a lack of ethnic and cultural diversity an issue in leadership and decision-making roles?
  • What are the challenges and barriers that remain?
  • Are there solutions and initiatives that might help to improve the situation? How do we remove these and show the next generation that security and safety leadership roles are open to all?
  • What are the benefits to organisations and outcomes of a more ethnically diverse workforce? How do we measure success?
  • How do we build in an authentic, systemic change to the industries and organisations we work in, as opposed to ‘box ticking’ or looking for quick fixes?
