Internet Protocol Version 6 must be widely adopted if smart-city projects are to be rolled out seamlessly, a prominent thinker on IT issues has claimed.
The point was made by senior advisor at APNIC (Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre) Australia Srinivas Chendi during a seminar on IPv6 awareness and IT security.
The Vizag Information Technology Association (VITA) organised the seminar, which took place in Vizag.
Chendi also offered to conduct a workshop for law enforcement agencies such as the police and judicial wing of the Andhra Pradesh government under the community development initiative of APNIC.
The said workshop is going to run for three days which also includes certification award upon completion. Similar programmes have also been conducted by APNIC for various security agencies in the Asia Pacific region , including the Delhi Police.
During the seminar IT and ITeS member companies were also urged by VITA secretary Winston Adams to work closely on beefing up cyber security to safeguard the organisations’ intellectual property.
