OmniVision Teams Up With Dahua to Launch HD Camera for Smart-Home Market

OmniVision Technologies has partnered with Dahua Technology to manufacture the LeChange camera, which is targeting the burgeoning ‘smart home’ industry.

The cloud-based HD camera is capable of recording and streaming 720p high definition (HD) video at 30 frames per second (FPS) to a number of devices including notebooks, smartphones and tablets, enabling effective home monitoring and video conferencing.

“Over the last 15 years, we have built a rich portfolio of hardware and software products, including security devices, mobile Internet solutions and cloud storage options,” said Fu Liquan, president, Dahua Technology.

“With the internet-of-things concept becoming more and more prominent in influencing product designs and consumer expectations, we have decided to raise the standards of the smart home market by partnering with OmniVision and creating a superior product, the cloud-based HD LeChange camera.”

The OV9712 CameraChip sensor enables OmniVision’s 3-micron OmniPixel3-HS pixel architecture to achieve scene reproduction in extreme lighting conditions.

This feature helps in capturing high quality, reliable video in indoors, outdoors or in low-light conditions.
