Contratulations to all the finalists and winners.A great night was had by all.Dave
I thought the whole night was well organised and delivered, this was my first opportunity to attend the awards on behalf of Pilgrims Group and I very much enjoyed the experience.
Rufus Hound, I thought his act and material was mostly hilarious, do I think he (or his act) was PC ? No, am I offended by that.. Not at all. It’s fair to say that he pushed one or two boundries but then if we can’t laugh at ourselves then we’re taking ourselves far too seriously.

I tend to agree, Dave. Glad to hear your feedback about the organisation and delivery. A lot of hard work goes into it every year and I know the organisers were happy with how it went.
I disagree with the comment re Rufus. I thought he was crude, offensive and his language totally inappropriate for what Brian Simms described as “The Oscars of The Security Industry.” I suggest that if I had used language like that in the presence of the ladies at this event their partners quite rightly would have been onto me like a shot. I have no problem with laughing at myself but there is a time and place and this prestigious event wasn’t it. A stag night probably is. Apart from that isn’t it great to see how the standards for this industry… Read more »
Yes, I had a chance to speak with all of the winners of the Engineers of Tomorrow competition, and they were all really enthusiastic and excited to be at the event. One of the individuals who came second I recognised from last year, when he apparently came 2nd, so it’s great to see that progression.
I feel a bigger push should be made to get this event publicised within the corporate arena- ie all companys with manned guarding/ or facilities departments could be sent flyers, given them the opportunity to enter and selling the prestige of a nomination etc. These events are really important, selling the industry and the professional standards that are being achieved and I feel more companies should be getting involved.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it, Dave. What did you think of the host, Rufus Hound? Seemed like he pushed his jokes a little too far…

I wish we would have simular programs in Canada/North America
I know the security excellence awards must meet all the necessary preparations to make make it a success.
