This year’s Security & Fire Excellence Awards took place at the London Hilton on Park Lane last evening (Wednesday 20th November), with awards focused on a wide variety of achievements across the industry. Find out all of the night’s winners below!
The awards were supported by IFSEC International and FIREX International – the largest annual security and fire safety shows in Europe – as well as headline sponsors First Response Group and Oprema. Other partners included Axis Communications (Sustainability Partner), Total Integrated Solutions (Solutions Integration Partner), ICTS, HID Global, Comelit Group and Texecom. It was a star-studded affair, with Tess Daly, Host of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing (amongst much more), hosting the event.
The event also continued its association with charity efforts, with the Charity Casino and Silent Auction’s profits being split across Camps foundation and Bowel Cancer UK.
Engineers of Tomorrow
To kick things off, the event also showcased the future of the industry, with winners of the highly respected Engineers of Tomorrow (EoT) competition being recognised. The competition highlights the next generation of security and fire systems installers from across the UK, while from next year it also acts as the sole mechanism to go through to WorldSkills UK 2020.
Regional heats of the competition will take place between January and March 2020, where over 150 apprentices will take part in a live installation challenge. The top apprentices will then proceed to the next stage, taking place at IFSEC International in May.
The National Security Inspectorate (NSI), congratulated all the apprentices as a founding stakeholder of the EoT competition, wishing them every success in their future careers. It also added its congratulations to all the NSI approved company finalists who were recognised, of which there were 26.

Winner’s comments
Hikvision won the award for IFSEC and FIREX Product Innovation of the Year for its DS-2TD2136 Thermal Network Bullet Camera, which is said to provide the security market with an effective and affordable networked thermal camera solution. The camera incorporates a reliable temperature exception alarm, automatic smart detection and can be used in a wide variety of environments. For instance, in the case of Foxlake Dundee, a water adventure centre in Dundee, the security system was based on the Bullet Camera, due to it being suitable for all weather conditions and for night vision.
Justin Hollis, UK and Ireland Marketing Director, commented: “Hikvision has been striving to bring the many advantages of thermal technology to the wider security surveillance market through our commitment to new product development and technological innovation, and recognition from the Security and Fire Excellence Awards judges is a real acknowledgement of the work of our R&D and product development teams.”
On behalf of all the team at IFSEC Global, we’d like to congratulate all the nominees and winners of the 2019 Security & Fire Excellence Awards. Here’s to next year!
