If you look around the exhibits at any of this year’s IFSEC events around the world, one obvious development is the use of GSM/GPRS networks to transmit data and control security systems of all sorts.
The problem with this is that the majority of security installers have had little or no training in how to utilise these networks correctly and tend simply to rely on their mobile phones to see if a site is suitable.
We have taken the guesswork out of this important testing process with the introduction of a range of easy-to-use GSM/GPRS radio signal analysers.
Dycon D23xx Series analysers range comprises of ;–
D2366 for 2G networks only
D2376 for 3G and 2G networks
D2377 for 4G, 3G and 2G networks (Available from late October 2014)
D2386 quad band including EU-wide GSM-r railway applications
These are the easiest way to find the optimum antenna/device installation location. All models, except D2377, will also detect and notify the presence of white noise jamming where it occurs, subject to signal strength and can be used to position an aerial or to test the performance of aerial systems.
Dycon’s advanced analysers detect and measure all local 4G, 3G, 2G and GSM-r base stations displaying their identity and signal strength on a clear, easy-to-read LCD display;

The analysers will detect all local networks when used without a SIM card or can lock on to any specific network if that network’s SIM card is fitted.
Suitable applications include all communication or telemetry products, smart metering, and the full range of Dycon GSM/GPRS security signalling equipment.
Dycon’s radio signal analysers are ideal for testing wherever fixed or mobile automatic radio signalling equipment is to be used and using them will reduce installation time and improve installation reliability.
The D23xx Series signal analysers are robust and easy to use, with: -
Clear menus
Wipe-clean keypad
Flexible stub antenna supplied
Ruggedized housing withstands being thrown into a tool box or van
An integral lithium-ion (li-ion) battery provides 24-hour use on a single charge
Automatic power down after a preset time to extend battery life
The possibility of using any antenna with an SMA connector
