Whitepaper: Enhancing security, resilience and efficiency across a range of industries

Interview

“We help businesses better understand their operations,” says 3xLOGIC

BillHobbs-3XLogic-19Recently, IFSEC Global had the chance to sit down with Bill Hobbs, Vice President of Sales at 3xLOGIC, to gain a better understanding of the company’s portfolio of products and business solutions.

IFSEC Global (IG): Hi Bill, do you want to give readers an introduction to the company for those who might not be familiar with 3xLOGIC?

Bill (B): 3xLOGIC is a manufacturer of security products and a developer of software. We have video surveillance systems, access control systems, and business intelligence or artificial intelligence, all designed to help businesses better understand what’s going on in their operations.

IG: What are the main product lines you’re bringing into the European market?

B: Initially coming into the European market will be VIGIL, our video surveillance product, and infinias, which is our access control solution. We’ve repurposed and expanded the capabilities of our existing PAC/GDX UK-based sales team, and we have sales and support resources already in place across Europe to sell and support our solutions.

IG: What would you say are the USPs of the brand?

B: Primarily, it is scalability. All our products are designed to scale from one small installation, up to many thousands. There’s also the ease of use benefit. All of our user interfaces are designed to ensure it’s easy for users to navigate around and find the information they need.

Finally, there’s the ease of deployment. We’ve engineered a lot of features into our products for support purposes. For instance, we use a lot of QR codes for automatic configurations using the cloud, which allows someone who isn’t super high tech to do the installation in the field.  This all means the customer can do all the configuration and programming in the office, so all the installer needs to do is fit the product at the end user site.

IG: Are there any particular sectors you do well in?

B: Sure, small and medium business (SMB) is our sweet spot, which includes retail – a market in which we do a lot of work. We also have a strong presence in education, as well as all sorts of multi-tenant facilities.

IG: From what we understand, you’re fairly new to the European market…?

B: Actually, we’ve been in the European market on a select basis for four years now. But yes, still relatively new. We have some very large customers in Europe. Circle K, which is a convenience store chain and Topaz in Ireland – they’ve been customers of ours for quite some time globally, and they started the implementation here in Europe about four years ago. There are also the VARs who have been installing those products for these customers. So, we have a fairly nice revenue stream already in Europe.

The TRENDS system can go through and analyse all that data and determine what’s happening, then present those insights to the customer with an easy-to-use dashboard. So, they can then quickly identify the outliers in their business.

IG: Where would you say your product development or R&D is focused?

B: We are very focused on mining and exposing data that exists throughout the business enterprise and originates from many disparate sources, some of which are a part of the physical security ecosystem.  One of our key initiatives in this is our TRENDS Business Intelligence solution.

TRENDS gathers information from a number of different types of sources and systems, such as video, point of sale in retail environments, and possibly the alarm or HR systems. We gather all that data together and we collate and correlate it, looking for specific events happening in the customer’s business they’ve identified they want to keep an eye on.

This is really big data. In a typical convenience store chain with roughly 1600 locations, we see about 50 million transactions a day on a rolling five-day basis. There’s simply no way a person could look at all that data and make any useful, actionable conclusions.

The TRENDS system can go through and analyse all that data and determine what’s happening, then present those insights to the customer with an easy-to-use dashboard. So, they can then quickly identify the outliers in their business.

IG: And what about cyber security?

B: Yes, we have an offering that we will be releasing probably in the end-of-the-year timeframe, that will provide cyber security solutions for small and medium businesses. It’s been difficult to reach into that sector up to now because it’s labour and capital intensive, but we’ve been able to engineer a solution with a very good partner that has an attractive price point and is very easy to manage and maintain.

IG: How can you make it cheaper and more cost effective to deploy?

B: Pooling resources is a key driver. Instead of these individual businesses needing to have their own experts on the payroll, we maintain an expert staff, therefore maintaining a service to them that helps analyse and mitigate any threats.

IG: Anything else you’d like to discuss?

B: I think the key thing about 3xLOGIC is we really want customers to see us not just as a product manufacturer but as a business solutions provider. We’re protecting them with security and so forth but we can also add value to their business efficiency and operations, and therefore to their bottom line. As the business enterprise scales, 3xLOGIC products will scale right alongside and provide insight to what really matters in running the business. Intelligent, scalable, cost effective solutions are the key to our business proposition.
