Humphries takes lead role on compliance and enforcement at the SIA
Humphries boasts 25 years’ experience working at HM Revenue & Customs (and previously at both HM Customs and Excise and the Inland Revenue).
Most recently, he served as head of criminal and enforcement policy tackling serious non-compliance against HMRC, and was responsible for policies concerning criminal justice, proceeds of crime, fraud and links to wider criminality.
Humphries was also on the Oversight Group of the UK Human Trafficking Centre.
Wealth of experience and knowledge
Speaking about the appointment, SIA chief executive Bill Butler said: “I’m delighted that Dave has joined us. He brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge.”
Butler went on to explain: “As we move forward, we’ll be focusing our efforts on working more closely with enforcement partners and other Government bodies to deliver our responsibility to protect the public. I’m confident that Dave is the right person to guide the SIA’s operational activity in this new and exciting direction.”
Starting at 90 High Holborn this morning, Humphries explained: “I’m very much looking forward to my new role at the SIA. The organisation is one that people should rightly be proud to be a part of as it does an extremely important job of tackling crime and the associated harm that crime causes.”
Meeting and greeting the industry
In his first few weeks in the role, Humphries wants to meet and get to know as many people in the industry as possible.
“I have been much encouraged by my previous visits to the SIA’s offices,” he concluded. “I’m keen to get started in leading compliance and enforcement activity through the challenges ahead.”
Humphries is married with two children. He runs the children’s work at an Anglican church, and is a member of the Parochial Church Council.
He’s a devoted Chelsea fan, and enjoys travel and politics.
