Smoke control company Airvent has employed Keith Elves as a fire engineering consultant.

Elves has more than 27 years’ experience in the field of fire, electrical and mechanical installations, with a background in building control legislation and public authority approval having been engineering group manager for Westminster District Surveyors for the past 25 years.

“It’s a great privilege to have someone with Keith’s experience and credibility join Airvent’s technical team,” director David Mowatt said. “His reputation precedes him and we’re confident that with this appointment we will not only be able to offer an improved service to our customers, but that our voice will become heard even more widely throughout the industry.”

Elves has worked on projects including the Whiteleys Shopping Centre and the Royal Opera House rebuild, in London, as well as undertaking research into car park fire safety, including real car-burning tests, and residential smoke shafts.

“I’m dedicated to ensuring all fire fighting and life safety systems meet legislation and are fit for purpose,” Elves said. “Airvent is the ideal place for me to continue to meet these personal and professional targets in a commercial setting. I aim to help the company cement its place as a leading player in the industry and the go-to destination for anyone presented with smoke control challenges.”
