Basler’s IP camera models get set for launch

Following production testing, the green light has been given for series production of cameras.

Made with CCD sensors with resolutions from VGA to two megapixels and frame rates up to 100 fps, models with day/night functionality are also available. Additional cameras with CMOS sensors will be introduced in the first quarter of 2010.

Basler’s CCD camera models have been designed to support multi-streaming and multi-encoding. They should provide up to four image streams using “any encoder type combination”, for example, one stream with H.264 compression, another stream with MJPEG compression, and a third and fourth stream with MPEG-4 compression, the company said.

It is also possible to encode up to four streams using the same encoder type, such as H.264, according to the manufacturer.

Basler said: “Another feature available on all of the IP cameras in the new generation is optional true day/night functionality.

“By using an automatically retractable IR-cut filter, a high quality color image mode is provided for daylight applications and a black and white mode can be used for night and low light conditions.”
